Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law
For those who have studied carefully how the Hierarchy works its
overall goals of training I really should emphasize the issue of how often enough we have to face decisions which involve avoiding consoling the student. To console is to insult the intelligence of the student who should not be treated in a manner where his reality is kept from him. Hard truths expressed with gloves off, therefore, do make the Instructor seem cold, callous, overly frank or to put it the way they used to in the deep south, “man’s a son of a bitch, hasn’t a lick of sense!” As it would appear to anyone that would be casual observer the Instructor does seem, at times, to be just those descriptions that his rivals try to define him. Other accusations are “he’s a control freak”, or simply those accusations where they want to find a rationalization where his deadly authoritative demands and unwavering adherence to protocol makes the young magician slightly nervous on how to respond where he moves toward where we observe more silence doesn’t always work out for the student. After all, more than one type of silence exists. The silence of respect, the silence of stupidity, the silence of those who have given up, the silence of death, the silence of life; and the Silence when viewed Divine the Silence of the Lord of Silence; Hoor-pa-kraat or any of the other Names He exists with.
Of course, those accusations where you are accused of letting power go to your head are common enough but unless you act with authority and exercise authority how do you plan to be an “immediate superior” in the Order? The facts are clear, then. I observe no way of countering any such accusations for this is the way the Hierarchy works. As Karl Germer once explained.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it! No doubt, being accused of being cruel or sadistic is nonsense, of course, but you absolutely must learn the difference between “mitigate” and “console”. Those who fear to exercise authority when necessary only deteriorate to “console” which doesn’t assist the candidate nor inspire the candidate. I am warning all of you to review the last two lines of verse 11 of Liber LXI. Well, if an Order has failed to initiate
something has gone terribly wrong. After all, if you pass someone up a Grade for his or her worldly prosperity where those large donations are taken in consideration rather than the truth of the real initiation or even the awakening of the magical powers you have lowered your standards where true Adepts and Masters shall not exist in your body. So, we operate in the aftermath of the fall of the old Golden Dawn in a manner that might very well seem authoritative; and of course we are perfectly capable of this in the Hierarchy there will be
extreme exaggerations of such exchanges mainly coming from those who actually failed. Of course, if a magician joins the Society simply to avoid some persecution where he would be pleased to stay in the Outer even he or she might be baffled on what is going on with those who are trying to enter the inner or even secret circles.
In a recent correspondence I realized that an ordeal was about to manifest in a student by the tone of the letter. How I handled it would either drive him further into the ordeal or inspire him where he arose like a Hawk of Gold. As an auditor or Instructor I must explain to you that we Thelemites despise those who “console”. You must understand this issue with clarity where to mitigate is not always to console but to inspire needs clarity of the issue; and what the student is really going through to approach the exchange properly. Like creating a magical sigil and leaving it to create a ripple in phenomenal existence to the positive conclusion of the magical gesture we must cast the seed into the field of night not knowing whether a flower shall bloom come morning. Who knows on what day a flower shall bloom?
Naturally, the unintelligent rationalization that the Initiate who has followed through with fraternity balanced by discipline moving with honesty and sincerity will always come to stupid conclusions; where the most common accusation is that the Immediate Superior was insane. We have to put up with such nonsense where this lecture might or might not offer satisfactory explanations. Of course, when it comes to the typical accusations they never seem to end. You must realize, however, that we are not a Democracy, we are a Hierarchy. Our idea of royalty has to include the truth of merit which isn’t taken in its ecological light but twisted around as arrogance. The solitary magician has no such issues. After all, they think their path will give them the same results. Yet, how is it that without someone to observe you, audit you, exchange with you, who has had experience you can attain in the way we would? The issue remains unresolved for the solitary magician until they realize that the only people they can truly trust; and go to the trouble of showing them how to keep themselves safe from persecutions is to find Us; and dwell in glory among us as like blood. If you have been persecuted and come to us the Hierarchy does become worth it. “as brother fight ye” as I have already explained has a left wing and a right wing school of thought which does not diminish in the least the concept of chivalry from these words from the Master Therion. The raw truth is if you have no one to exist with as a solitary magician you take your chances you will be horribly compromised by the opposition. I warn you again. The forties are coming again; and working together for self preservation so our glorious Message can be presented by the competent means we present what needs to be expounded where the raw reality meets without self deception. So, the secret society in spite of conspiracy nonsense isn’t trying to do what they maliciously claim they are. For safety’s sake; and to dwell among those of like blood it is all worth the false accusations for those who would hear us out know that we “Refuse none..”.
Bad people, bad people might very well in the future come for you; and they will stop at nothing. Where will you be when this occurs? With brothers and sisters in our safe Sanctuaries; or alone in your delusions that the culprits who are knocking at your door are not going to drag you to the stake? You must take seriously the horrors of the past inquisitions and jihad knowing that we cannot trust it not to occur again. Therefore, I absolutely recommend those who would be old Aeon Hermit to rethink their safety, adjust their observations of the Hierarchy, and decide upon a will that meets the glory of true fraternity.
So, perhaps, a few will realize that we have chosen a Path that isn’t cruel and callous at all but a byway where the means that the Hierarchy dictates will be to the benefit of the worthy as an end which has glorious awakenings; and wondrous relationships.
