The Lords of Spiritual Enlightenment

written by David Bersson

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law

I am no stranger to those who would claim to be the so called “Lords of Spiritual Enlightenment” both east and west. Most certainly, we have had serious issues with many who failing in our Hierarchy dash off trying to pass themselves off as Adept; or even Master. The example of the moron who lied about memorizing his Chapters and faked his magical records who tried to arise again to convince fools that he had attained; and was even in touch with the Secret Chiefs is now a matter of historical observation where he now dead and gone is an example of such machinations that continue to occur. After all, only thirteen lines occur in Liber ARARITA to memorize for the Philosophus and no excuse can be given when tested you have not done what you’ve claim you’ve done. In my observation, the other Holy Books should be with less effort memorized in short order simply as a consequence of how perfect their flow and syntax is for the zealous initiate. Well, you can always tell when someone who calls themself a Thelemite uses the phrase, “higher self” instead of “true self” or tries to explain the entire body of a Thelemic Ritual as “whole” in contradiction to Liber AL, Chapter I verse 34. At least they are sincere with their goal to be a teacher. None of them consider themselves “Lords of Spiritual Enlightenment”; and besides why bother with names when they are so early on, on the Path? No doubt, if a female Thelemite claims to be a Scarlet Women we rub our hands together in anticipation trying to get her to come to the Feasts; but when a male Thelemite claims to be an incarnation of the Beast we accidentally on purpose forget to pass an invitation. Rather an amusing state of affairs if you (as Karl Germer suggested) were to put all the claimants to be The Magical Child into the same room just to see what would occur it might be an interesting experiment.

I have already explained how the eastern gurus from India or the Orient come to the West forgetting that local folklore and initiations do occur here. Rather than do a basic study of the western esoteric path of spiritual enlightenment and magick they presume that they are the true “Lords of Spiritual Enlightenment” and teach what would be observed from us with absolute clarity that the western temperament finds some of the dogma to be crapulous creed. It is best that we understand all this and treat them with the respect they deserve. After all, they have the usual and typical indoctrinations that are common for their geography and some actually, with our polite recommendations do read our mystical literature.

Years ago, the Greco Egyptians generously gave the savage, tribal Arabians the Emerald Tablet. For the short time their culture actually advanced until Jihad began its death march against anything but Islam. So what is on the other side of the Emerald Tablet so many years later? As a magical talisman it worked for a few years but the tribal savagery was never neutralized by the efforts of those Adepts attempting to share a more civilized insight to those who were doomed to be imprisoned in the deadly pit of Islam. Islam is a religion that has failed its people; and so called Christianity is no better. The genuflect habit of those who prefer to be slaves without a master is a common enough trait and error for the old Aeon monotheistic protocol. No spiritual enlightenment is possible from the worship of the slave gods. Both Jihad and Inquisition have set back social evolution in the areas they are practiced by centuries. In those few civilized nations that wouldn’t stand for such behavior so unbecoming to the advance of science they advanced and progressed while the die hards stagnated and even retrograded to medieval brutality.

It should be observed that Krishna – ity is no better than was is named Christianity where, again, their annoying dogma does not give anything close to being “Lords of Spiritual Enlightenment” where they end up with the savior complex as added psychological compromise to the glory of their True Self. If you observe the area they exist their nations have no progress whatsoever as originated from their dogma. When they have progress they are operating with the research of raw science. They simply cannot apply their old Aeon dogma to be a more civilized nation. For them, social evolution is always stifled by permitting their dogma to infest their politics. In addition, they never mind their own business and often infringe on the rights of nations they border. The Jews at least retained the glory of the mystical kabbalah are one exception to these habits; and the other exception to these observations are the the merchants of black grease in Saudi Arabia would accumulate great wealth. Naturally, we disagree with the orthodox in the same sentence as the dogma of the Christist. Richard Burton gave us the interesting tales of the folklore of the Arabians; only with Islam infestations. I am certain that if Arabian Folklore was purged of its Islamic disease it would become as valuable as the Kabbalah purged already to make it a glorious contribution for western esotericism. Yet, this is not my Great Work; and the Task of another Adept. As counterproductive as those whose presumption is to behave like the “Lords of Spiritual Enlightenment” are those scoundrels from the Middle East who commit Jihad on those who will not convert to their insanities.

Nevertheless, if they are to progress they have to submit to the advances of science; and to, in addition, change their attitude to their women who they so often treat like slaves rather than glorious women to be loved and treated as equals. So what is an Eastern Guru from India doing here in the west when their homeland of India hasn’t progressed in a thousand years where they yet permit the caste system, pollution, mystic beggars and poverty to exist? They are not the Lords of Spiritual Enlightenment; and their version of Yoga isn’t purged for the western temperament. Yet the great genius of the Master Therion who gave us “Eight Lectures on Yoga” already resolved this issue. We acknowledge Yoga as a means to increase our concentration so our magick is more powerful. Yet we shall define our terms; and use our methods which are attuned to our True Self. Liber 418 is proof that the mystical walk can be used efficiently with Yoga; and those who consider the mystical walk obsolete do not understand what it is to partake of the essence of the wild of a nation to see the manifestations of the natural tendencies of the multitudes. We state there is help and hope in other spells. Yet, this does not mean to return to the slave gods. Knowing what not to do assists us to know what is to be purged. You deduce backwards for the sum of the equation from what not to do from what we consider crapulous creeds to avoid the repeat of the errors of the past.

Chinese Divination has never been chosen as the Divination of choice for my Neophytes although they all try it for a while. Ordinarily, the Neophtye of our Hierarchy chooses the Thoth Tarot Cards or the Runes. I, personally, have found the spirits behind Chinese Divination to be truthful enough but the readings I do now are with the Thoth Tarot Deck. I have always thought that Runes should have been developed for Thelemites being mentioned in the Book of the Law. I should otherwise remark that Chinese Divination should be experienced by students but for myself it was never my choice of Divination. In addition, you should not confuse my objections to Taoism as anything to do with how I perceive the oriental. My initial reaction to a path of spiritual enlightenment that called itself “the Way” was an automatic rebellion where my first thoughts were who were you to deny individuality by such a claim of supremacy as the lords of spiritual enlightenment? Can I actually trust James Legge’s translation? In addition, when they refer to “heaven” is the translation accurate? After all, they most certainly do not mean it in the sense of how a so called Christian defines heaven; and I cannot be sure that they mean it entirely in the sense of “supernal”. Well, although my objections might be ignored or not taken seriously I admit to this western temperament where such skepticism can only be taken so far. In addition, I perceived Chinese mysticism whether it is Confucius or the Tao to be in contradiction to many of those insights that can arise with the basic ethics of a Thelemite. I might remark that I have not taken a mystical walk through China as A.C. did where he was in touch with the primal essence of the oriental and was able to assimilate some of its insights in terminology that even a western temperament might make sense of it. I do realize that when I state that I am skeptical about my own skepticism it might appear to be that I am contradicting myself but I might be wrong. After all, how do you purge it or translate it or analyze it or apply it in correspondence when you haven’t actually experienced spiritual enlightenment from its protocol? In addition, no matter how sublime the insights of oriental mysticism seem to be on the surface the Chinese embraced Communism. So my objections to the lack of social evolution that exists in the orient has been more political objections which hindered any real understanding of a path which did nothing for the orientals themselves. I have had the same attitude with the Hindoo and the Buddhist where if you observe the overall life style of its political format it did nothing for the commonweal. Well, do not throw out the bath water with the baby; and those like myself who embrace it with skepticism must admit that Chinese mysticism properly purged will be of great value to the initiate. Of course, these issues of western and eastern temperament have made it difficult. What I am joyful with as a Thelemite does seem to have contradictions with the Tao but such an automatic rebellion can only be taken so far. To truly observe it properly I am convinced I would have to partake of the essence of it in the wilds of the orient which I haven’t done. Perhaps then I might change my objections. Nevertheless, I shall not set foot in a nation that embraces communism which I absolutely reject. To mention that Khan’s grandson embraced the Tao so it should not be a surprise that I suspect it to be a crapulous creed. As with Yoga we have the Master Therion who gives an interpretation that compensates for our doubt about James Legge’s translation and those Eastern Gurus from India who clearly do not understand western temperament we have “Eight Lectures on Yoga”. Try to be polite when you encounter these India Gurus. It would not assist toward a positive effect to tell them get the fuck out of America. I am absolutely recommending A.C.’s writings on the Tao first where it has been purged from James Legge’s translation.

So, take all this in consideration where no matter how beautiful a human being the oriental person seems to be communism is an ugly hag. This has nothing to do with the Chinese Americans that I have exchanged with; or any Asian person who was brought up here in the USA. When I deal with these people individually they are not going to be like those who I would object to. Also, keep in mind that I am of that other Breed which is rare enough to have an equal automatic rebellion from them when they try to understand the western esoteric path of spiritual enlightenment and magick. Although it is not my Great Work to resolve this I am certain karma will take its toll. Martial arts that is not balanced by spiritual insight does seem off balance to me; and the endless violence of martial arts in theater does seem to be senseless and stupid. Such violent sensationalism in theater seems endless, pointless and a deviation from social evolution.

I should think that the west has seen its fill of charlatans where they seep from the ghetto of India leaking their vile smell to create dis – ease of spirit from their stagnation or the Buddhist with their aspiration to emptiness passed off as spiritual enlightenment.

I should remark that we do not engage in Holy Wars, conversion, nor revolution. Such methods have proved to be counterproductive to the very real social evolution that when applied is far more thorough than such brutality and indoctrinations.

It is enough to unfold our True Self; and discover our True Will where experience and example have a handshake rather than to repeat the savagery of those who try to shove pointless dogma down our throats.
