Oh, Oh! I feel a controversial lecture coming on. Old Golden Dawn aspirants and Chaos magicians need to take several steps back and heed my words or be blasted into a thousand universes.
Reading my old magical records has been an asset with regards to what I learned with regards to handling any number of adventures on the path dealing with Hierarchy issues. Some years ago I found a list of books that I had in the early days of my path and I noted that some of these books were missing from my library where I lent them out and they were never returned. So I made it a mission to find all those books that I wanted back in my library. Apparently, it took three years to find them where some of them were quite rare. I was surprised that I found the paperback copy of “Origin of Species” which I thought missing but to my astonishment found a 1909 e.v. volume of “Origin of Species” for only $15.00 in very good condition that had larger print making it much more comfortable to read. An old copy of Liber 333 I had lent to a failed Neophyte in Chicago who eventually went insane leaving the Order was lost and I found a replacement copy for a good price. My point being that without diligent and steadfast adherence to Liber E, Section I where I tried to comply with the details of the writing of my magical record I was able to refresh the lost books from the old list. Many times I have read the old magical records where decisions of Hierarchy might be improved upon with simply observing how I handled it with either the Menthu Lodge or the 93 Lodge. In addition, I have had plenty of private lectures from my Instructor on any given issue where I was learning to handle difficult situations from His advice.
For those who have come to us from the old Golden Dawn they are entering a completely different world where we take the issues brought up in Liber LXI very seriously. The entire point is to not permit us to deteriorate into a failed system where we no longer initiate. Remember that Liber LXI is read to the new Probationer prior to the signing of its Oath and Task. What this means for G∴ D∴ of A∴A∴ is we have to fortify the fit; and eliminate the unfit. Prepare for some disappointment not necessarily always outweighing those few golden moments where your audit finds a positive decision. Too many aspirants fail expecting us to behave like an old Golden Dawn Hierarchy whose flaws and delusions have not ceased with its raw lessons of being a failed magical order not being heeded. No positive equivalents of Grade can therefore be honestly be deduced from the old Golden Dawn and those who speculate along these lines are either deceived or being deceived. After all, not only is the exchange and adjustment on a different level but what the Grades mean to Us with such a concept as knowledge and conversation of the A∴A∴ is beyond the comprehension of anyone who hasn’t experienced the 93 Current. I have had at two new aspirants over a number of years naively inquire whether their Grade of Adept Minor or another Grade from the old Golden Dawn meant they could simply slip in with the same Grade for Us. Typically, my exchange from such a idea was not pleasing to those aspirant’s ego and at least one I blasted so severely that he is now yet hiding under his bed too frightened to leave his dark delusions about my alleged tyranny after many years. Indeed, I did leave something of an impression in his mind towards the direction of “hard core” but had he an ounce of aspiration or self esteem or even a sense of humor he might have been useful. It should otherwise be advised to take seriously our firmness with regards to Liber LXI. The M.T. with A∴A∴ has a Garden to tend to which is a very real process that is presented in Liber 418. Now, uprooting a weed that is a failed aspirant does make the M.T. seem callous and unforgiving but all I can state is to study the Garden and the Master in Liber 418 where such a meditation on its pragmatic realities be seen as a natural solution to old issues. Keep in mind that the Grand Neophyte outlined in ONE STAR IN SIGHT does reflect these necessary processes and such a parallel on the lower planes might assist to have some insight how the process parallels. The experience of exchange and adjustment in the Hierarchy might be of value for those whose imagination have falsely concluded on its realities. Nevertheless, even trying to describe it might not be observed with the accuracy that I might endeavor to expound. After all, without living its experience you cannot understand what transpires. Some succeed and some fail. You already know that but what is all the fuss about? I see that some vision might be useful.
I should start that the concept of “Fraternity balanced with Discipline” does absolutely involve “controlled ruthlessness” but with the balance of Fraternity we have a balance which shall be important with some formality or format we yet have an exchange that is fulfilling where the level of trust is on very high level. Our attempt to achieve the communication where the normal discussion shall be the progress of the Oath and Tasks is intruded on too often an occasion with students or Probationers reacting to the environment and existence in the Hierarchy. No one here is a nagging wife who objects to everything but sane constructive criticism from the Instructor seems to have a hammering impact on those whose ego is reacting with instruction. No doubt, no one likes the idea of blind subordination and especially Thelemites who ordinarily have some insight into constructive criticism. Naturally, what might be considered the tyranny of criticism is really the Instructor reminding the student of his or her Oaths and Tasks. As I stated, expect rude awakenings that we are a magical order where the magical current can effect the novice on any number of planes; and depending on the karma of the student it might not be pleasing to their ego even when the Instructor seems to be fraternal. We cannot do your magical work for you and aspiration with initiative will not come from we forcing you to get a move on. I have even observed such rebellion that they actually become traitors and when they reach the hurdle try to find another Instructor. Of course, it does them no good where they will not advance any better with anyone else but such reactions are never pleasant where you have to cut contact with them entirely. Some try to wing it on their own only to become a commercial enterprise. I have one Probationer years ago out of nowhere accuse me of being a scheme where he lied his way into another Hierarchy and repeated his ego reaction the second time. Today he lives a shameful and criminal life stealing from the naive novice or expounding total nonsense wrapping up his ruach masturbation in useless lecture where he became a puppet of the black brothers.
Bearing all this in mind I cannot too often emphasize that raw experience counts highly on your experiences; and until you have taken those steps with the first Oath and Task you cannot know from other magical orders how we operate. For the 93 Current is a glory beyond anything you have experienced until you’ve experienced it.
After all, we will to experience the true initiations where we have learned the dire lessons of the old aeon not to repeat them.
